I contacted OWC support, and now they tell me that the particular vairant of the SSD model that came out of my MBP is incompatible and I need to buy a PCIe adapter to put it into a MacPro!!!! I don't have a MacPro with PCIe. however, few uses after, the SSD in the transfer enclosure failed to mount. fortuately I had an backup I was able to resurrect the contents. trying to copy files from the originall SSD in the transfer enclosure produce numerous errors.

the Aura Pro X2 SSD works well in the mBP but I could never get the transfer enclosure to work reliably. There are a few gotchas that may make it less desirable. Overall, would I recommend this drive? Not really sure to be honest. Apparently if you would try to use it for the OWC SSD, you can cause some damage which will then void the warranty. Also, beware that the enclosure that they sell with the OWC SSD is only for the Apple SSD. Just today I had to adjust some more settings to get it to work.now it's just a waiting game to see if it actually will do what it's supposed to do. The adjustments aren't necessarily difficult, but it is a bit trying to find out that the MacBook won't wake up or will have issues booting or what not. However, this item isn't plug-n-play and will frustrate you to no end like it did me to find out that a few setting will need to be adjusted. DecemI've had this 2GB SSD in my MacBook 12.1 for about one year now and for the most part it has been nice to have additional storage. Read the Knowledge Base article to learn more.
